The Deposit System

The deposit system is designed for open environments where our packaging doesn't stay within a confined area.

If you need an alternative to disposable coffee cups or any other form of food-approved disposable packaging for a business or an event, we can also provide it. Read about it here: Companies and Events

Why a deposit system?

The goal is to create a deposit system that ensures CO2 reduction. The return rate plays a huge role here. The packaging can be as sustainable as possible, but it means nothing if it ends its "life" in a trash can and is thus sent for incineration or remains unused in the consumer's household, requiring the production of new packaging.

The packaging needs to stay in the closed loop in order to be reused as many times as possible and then be recycled into new packaging. This way, we avoid having to produce new raw materials and draw on the planet's limited resources.

So remember to return the deposit packaging, so that together we can reduce Denmark's CO2 consumption.

How it works

  • Purchase your coffee in a New Loop deposit cup instead of a disposable cup.

    1. Buy with a deposit

Buy your coffee in a New Loop deposit cup. The deposit will be added to the price.

  • Drink your coffee from an environmentally friendly New Loop deposit cup instead of disposable coffee cups.

    2. Enjoy your coffee

Fortsæt din dag som du plejer og nyd din kaffe

  • Scan the cup with your mobile phone to have the deposit credited to you.

    3. Scan your cup

Use the camera on your phone to scan our QR code on the cup and follow the instructions.

  • Return the deposit cup at one of our return points.

    4. Return the cup

Return the cup to one of our return points.

  • See the deposit appear in your New Loop app or use our web interface. Get your deposit refunded to your bank account.

    5. Receive your deposit

Use our app or website to get your money refunded. We are working on making this automatic.

1. Buy with Deposit: When you visit one of our partner stores and choose a drink in a New Loop cup instead of a disposable cup, a small deposit is added to your total price. This deposit is not just an extra cost - it's an investment in the environment. It ensures that our deposit cups are returned, cleaned, and reused, reducing the need for disposable packaging.

2. Enjoy Your Drink: Enjoy your coffee as usual. Our deposit cups are designed to keep your coffee hot and secure without burning your hands.

3. Scan the QR Code: On the side of the deposit cup, you'll find a unique QR code. Open the camera on your phone and scan this code. You will be guided through a process that tells you what to do and where to drop off the cup. We only need your email address, and once you've entered it, it will be remembered on your phone. If it's the first time you're scanning a piece of packaging from New Loop, we'll send you an email with further information.

Once you've completed the short guide, the deposit will be credited to your account. You can only cash out the deposit once the cup is returned, and if you forget the cup in the urban environment, others can still scan the cup and take over the deposit. As soon as the cup is returned, the deposit is released to the last person who scanned the cup. This is to ensure that a cup still has value and is therefore returned.

4. Return the Cup: Drop off your deposit cup, either at the same store or another store in our network. The cashier will scan the cup, and you can see in our app or on the website that the deposit has been released. After this, no one else can take it over.

5. Receive Your Deposit: After the cup is returned and scanned, you can request to have your deposit refunded directly to your bank account. This can be done either through our website or through our app. You can choose whether to do it now or later. Soon, it will also be possible to set up automatic payments so you don't have to request a refund manually.
